Migration Health

ISTM collaborates with an international community of leaders in Migration Health with the aim of developing evidence-based practices which will benefit migrant populations and host countries.

ISTM Executive Board, October 2018

In October 2018 the ISTM collaborated with the American Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, European Society of Clinical Microbiology, and the International Organization for Migration on the first International Conference on Migration Health. The conference brought together more than 300 attendees with representation from every continent. For more information on the conference scientific program, click here.

At this important point in time, when the number of displaced persons in the world is higher than any time since the end of World War II, the ISTM would like to re-affirm to our members that we have a direct interest in migrant health, and support all international efforts to aid immigrants and refugees.

Traveling across borders is the essence of travel medicine, and we want to remain mindful of the obstacles that people fleeing war zones and violence still face in the world. Almost all of our member countries are affected by this concern.

More than ever, we need to remember our responsibility to help those who are not in a position to help themselves.
